Cornelia Thomsen: The Collective Self

Presented by the German Consulate General New York and organized in collaboration with the Deutsches Haus at NYU, “The Collective Self” presents my abstract works in dialogue with recent portrait paintings. Each of the series on display, from the abstract Stripes and the Structures compositions to the portrait series "Anna," meditate on a distinct moment in a complex professional, psychological, and political journey. The exhibition is curated by Venetia Kapernekas.

The exhibition will also feature physical digital installations and NFTs based on my Stripes paintings.

The vernissage and artist talk will take place at 1014 Fifth Avenue, NY on Monday, April 4, 6-8 PM.

A second public event will be the talk "No Body Is Closed," a conversation between the writer Siri Hustvedt and me on Thursday, April 7, 6-7:30 PM,

If you would like to join either event, please register at www.1014.nyc.
